Amtrak provides rail service to 500 destinations in 46 states, the District of Columbia and two Canadian provinces. Los Angeles is served by three long-distance trains offering sleeping-car services; the Coast Starlight® (Los Angeles to Seattle), Southwest Chief® (Los Angeles to Chicago), and Sunset Limited® (Los Angeles to New Orleans).
Amtrak California trains serving Los Angeles include the Pacific Surfliner® (Los Angeles to San Diego, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo) and the San Joaquin® (Los Angeles to the Central Valley, Sacramento, and Bay Area via seamless, direct Thruway motorcoach/train transfer in Bakersfield). Amtrak California’s Thruway system extends service beyond destinations served by rail, connecting passengers with 175 + communities in California, Oregon and Nevada.
